Blues at the Economic Planning Table

Larry served on a panel to open up some ideas on how blues can help develop a tourism industry for the benefit of the West Side. The same thing could work on the South Side.  To benefit the hard-hit neighborhoods where blues originates.  The writeup, by Austin Talks

Headhunting in Watseka

On Pandora listening stations, Larry Taylor's band is often paired, sound-wise, with the rockin' country fellas of the Kentucky Headhunters.  (Don't forget--blues is the root of all American popular music, including jazz, rock, bluegrass country, R&B and hiphop!) Reason for the match: the heavy backbeat of Headhunters drummer Fred Young. Well, the Headhunters graciously invited Larry to sing "Bad Boy" and Junior Wells "Messin with the Kid" on stage at Watseka, IL, a cornfield town an hour south of Chicago.  The Watseka Theatre audience loved it! KyHeadhunters

Larry's life to be a feature movie!

“I come up in the hard struggles here in Chicago, on the West Side,” Larry Taylor says. “I went through many things. Experiencing gangs, drugs (and) the Civil Rights movement.”  These events, plus the dramas in his own musical family, will be portrayed in a feature movie, The Rhythm and the Blues.   MORE INFO: www.therhythmandtheblues.com
